SO CHIC ! PRESENTS YOU THE INCREDIBLE “ITALIAN PARADOX” OF ROSÉ WINE

Here is a very surprising “Italian paradox”: did you know that Italy is the second largest exporter of rosé wines in the world (by value) after France, a clear proof that Italian winegrowers know how to create quality rosé wines that sell very well with high prices… But, curiously, Italy is still a small local consumer market for rosé since it only represents 5 or 6% of the world market for rosé wine, while France represents 35%.
According to the latest statistics from Wine Monitor, Italy, with a still marginal market share, has, however, recorded the most significant evolution over the last year (+ 63.9% between 2019 and 2020), with rising bottle prices, which places our country just behind France in terms of top-of-the-range positioning. For Wine Monitor, Italy is the world’s fifth largest market for rosé wine consumption and fourth for production. Italian producers therefore produce rosé wines of excellent quality for export, but Italians drink very little! Strange, isn’t it?
It seems that things are changing positively and that Italian consumers have finally understood that their rosés deserve to be appreciated! As proof of this, Italian wine merchants have recorded a significant increase in demand for rosé wines from 2014 to today, estimated at between 10% and 20% each year.
When we look at the phenomenal growth of rosé wines from Provence between 2010 and 2020 (+ 516%, 60 M bottles), we understand how much our Sardinia with its high quality viticulture has enormous potential…
All the ambition of Tréguer & Tréguer with SO CHIC ! rosé wine is to make known the exceptional quality of this rosé, 100% Cannonau di Capo Ferrato, also to the many northern Italians who come to Sardinia for holidays and who will, most certainly, bring a few bottles back home.
